Date of birth: 7/2/76
Birth place: Dewsbury. UK.
Qualifications: B.A. Islamic Law & Theology, M.A. Islamic Religious Studies.

Childhood & studying days: The Shaykh grew up in a small town called Dewsbury. Born in a pious family the Shaykh's upbringing was one filled with Islãmic discipline. At a tender age of 14 doing well with his education both at school and Madrassah a long wished ambition was fulfilled. Shaykh Zubair left home to his mothers' birth land South Africa - the aim, to become an Ãlim of Deen.

Leaving both parents and a brother and sister, Shaykh Zubair left home and started his Islamic studies at the well-known Madrassah Arabia Islamia, better known as Darul Uloom Azaadville. It was the Grace of Allah that enabled the Shaykh to settle down in South Africa and get down to fulfil his aim. Whilst other 14 year olds would be making the most of their early teenage, Shaykh Zubair was already thousands of miles away from home and learning the hard way to fulfil a dream and ambition. The greatest ambition one can be blessed with is to service Deen. History is witness to the fact that whenever Allah Ta'ala desired to take work from any of his beloved servants they went through great sacrifice.

Shaykh Mufti Zubair started his Islamic studies at Darul Uloom Azaadville. It was here that the maturing of a future server of Deen took place. Shaykh Mufti Zubair spent his first four years at this fortress of Ilm (knowledge).

Shaykh Mufti Zubair completed four of his six years at Darul Uloom Azaadville gaining great recognition amongst students, teachers and the people of South Africa. Wanting to further his studies after graduation from South Africa Shaykh Mufti Zubair made a difficult move of leaving this fortress of Ilm and moved on to Jamiah Mahmoodiyah, Springs in South Africa which was still in its early days. Here the Shaykh received the type of individual attention needed for one intending to one day doing the Mufti course. Under the guidance of the Rector of Jamiah Mahmoodiyah Shaykh Mufti Ismail Abur Raheem, Shaykh Zubair made great progress in both fields of knowledge and spiritualism. After the move to Jamiah Mahmoodiyah, Shaykh Zubair realised the importance of spiritual reformation and building contact with Allah. Gradually this aspect started coming his way through the guidance of Fadhilatul Shaykh Mufti Mahmood Hasan (R) of Deoband who frequently visited South Africa and eventually breathed his last in South Africa, blessing the South Africans with his blessed grave. It was after him that the Jamiah was named Jamiah Mahmoodiyah.

After the demise of Fadhilatul Shaykh Mufti Mahmood Hasan (R) Shaykh Zubair found the person to assist him in his quest of attaining closeness to Allah. This was in the figure of the honoured Shaykh Hakeem Muhammad Akhtar (M..Z). Shaykh Zubair became greatly in love with this great Wali of Allah. It was during one of the holidays that Shaykh Zubair spent a week with the honoured Shaykh Hakeem Muhammad Akhtar (M..Z) which totally transformed his heart and mind. His condition became like that of Jalaluddeen Rumi (R) on seeing Shamsuddeen Tabrezi (R).

"O Love-sick one, what did you blow into my heart.

That it is a river of blazing fire passing through my heart.
"
(Mathnawi of Rumi).

Shaykh Muft Zubair's final two years brought about a major transformation in all aspect of his study days. It was during these final two years that by the Grace of Allah (SWT) in his student days Shaykh Zubair managed to compile three books:

1) The manifestations of Allah (SWT)'s Qudrat.

2) Jihad.

3) Ummul Khabaith - Intoxicants the mother of all evils (later published as - Drugs, Its Solutions in Islam)

The final year also saw Shaykh Zubair delivering speeches at various different Mosques in South Africa.

Graduation: Eventually after six years away from home and great effort and sacrifice the long awaited day finally arrived. Sunday 15th of December 1996/ 4th of Shaban 1417 Jamiah Mahmoodiyah had its first completion of the famous Sahih Bukhari and graduation of its first batch of students. Amongst those who qualified on that day was a young twenty year old - Shaykh Mufti Zubair.

Further Studies: One of Shaykh Zubair's childhood ambitions was to become a Mufti. The desire and ambition held high from the age of not even knowing the requirements of becoming a Mufti. During his final year he discussed often with Shaykh Mufti Ismail where his Mufti course should be done. Deep down in his heart only one place existed, the famous Mother of Institutes - 'Darul Uloom Deoband'. The place each student of Deen who has any knowledge of it' s status desires and longs to study.

Through the Grace of Allah (SWT) all the requirements were arranged and after the Ramadan holidays in1997 Shaykh Mufti Zubair once again left home. This time it was India and not South Africa, a new place and a new environment.

The first glance at the famous white dome of Darul Uloom Deoband sent waves of ecstasy in the heart of Shaykh Zubair. At last a dream come true. During his Mufti course Shaykh Zubair made a lot of effort in gaining as much as he could in the short time that he could in Deoband. He was very close to one of his teachers who was the Grand Mufti of Deoband, Shaykh Mufti Nizamudden Azmi (M.Z.) Shaykh Zubair spent virtually his free time with Mufti Nizamudden. Mufti Nizamudden showed immense love and compassion towards him. Shaykh Zubair benefited profusely from the teachings and company of Mufti Nizamudden that Mufti Nizamudden awarded him his personal certificate of permission to practice Fatawa besides the one given by the Darul Ifta.

Spiritual Reformation: After completing his Mufti course Shaykh Zubair wasted no time in going to the personality that sparked the flame into his heart. With the quest of spiritual reformation and attaining closeness to Allah (SWT) in December 1997 Shaykh Zubair headed off to Khanqah Imdadiyyah Ashrafiyyah, Karachi Pakistan. Once there he expressed his desires to spend at least four months in the company of the honoured Shaykh Hakeem Akhtar (M.Z.). Only a couple of days had passed and Shaykh Zubair mentioned his desire to take Bay'ah at the hands of Shaykh Hakeem Akhtar (M.Z.). This created a deeper bond between him and his spiritual mentor. During this time Shaykh Zubair's closeness to Allah (SWT) and the will to resist unlawful temptations increased. In a short while Shaykh Zubair started traversing the path towards Allah (SWT) and Tassawuff.

Khilafat: It was only his second month spent with his mentor that on the 2nd of Shawwal 1418/Saturday the 31st of January 1998 Shaykh Hakeem Akhtar (M.Z.) blessed this disciple of his with the honoured duty of Khilafat (permission for other to take Bay'at to).

After his four months with his mentor Shaykh Zubair returned home after consulting his mentor as where to settle, UK or South Africa? It was decided that he should serve Deen in England and since returning that is exactly what he has been doing.

May Allah (SWT) accept his efforts and make him a means of guidance for the entire ummah of Rasulullah (Sallaho Alaihe Wassallam), Ameen.
